A Day of Mindfulness @ Blue Cliff Monastery - Vesak Celebration!

Sabrina

Hello Tribe,

Join us on this very special trip to Blue Cliff Monastery to celebrate Vesak with the Buddhist Monks! For those of you unfamiliar with what Vesak is, it is the celebration of Buddha's birthday and a time of joy and peace. Siddhartha, or Buddha Shakyamuni, was an enlightened being whose teachings have helped millions of people touch the peace, love and understanding inherent in each of us. In celebration and  remembrance of the Buddha, we will practice mindfulness together as a sangha, or community, seeing that the Buddha is still very much alive, here and now. We will start the day at 9:30am with a LIVE Dharma talk given by one of the monks at the monastery. At 11am we will enjoy the beautiful ceremony of bathing the baby Buddha! We close out our visit at 1pm with a Mindful picnic Lunch in community. Please RSVP to be as soon as possible as I need to provide a headcount the week prior to the event. There is no limit on attendees so feel welcome to invite a friend or family member who would enjoy this special experience to walk the path of peace! Because of the Vesak celebration the itinerary may change. As we get closer to the date I will send a follow up email with a more concrete description of activities. Please plan on arriving 10-15 minutes early so we can gather as a group and head into the day together.

There is no fee for taking part in the Day of Mindfulness at the Monastery but a requested donation of $10-$20 per person for those who are able. Donations are the main source of support, so every offering is greatly appreciated. Your contribution can help keep the monastery open year round!

What to wear: Please wear loose, casual, and comfortable clothing suitable for monastery environment and for sitting meditation. Shirts covering shoulders, back, and midriff - and shorts, skirts, pants at least to the knee. Please bring weather-appropriate clothing and shoes suitable for walking on nature trails so you can fully enjoy the outdoor walking meditation with community. If you have individual needs like access to a chair during any of the activities Blue Cliff is willing and able to provide any necessities.
